‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’ Gameplay, Features & Release Date: New CoD Game’s Realistic Difficulty Mode Has One Fatal Shot Rule

Development studio Treyarch has revealed what gamers can expect with the new Realistic difficulty setting of the upcoming "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" game.

According to the studio's director, the new level will completely change the way how gamers tackle a CoD game.

The addition of the Realistic setting was first unveiled after the studio released the complete achievements list of "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" on Exophase.

This marks the first time that the series will get a new difficulty setting since previous titles only had Recruit, Regular, Hardened and Veteran. According to Jason Blundell, the director of the upcoming game, the Realistic setting enforces a strict one-shot rule. This means if the gamers' characters get shot once, they will immediately die. The same rule is applied when a grenade or any other explosive device detonates near the characters.

"[In Realistic] you have one point of life, so if you're shot once, you're dead," Blundell said according to Xbox Achievements. "It completely changes the way you play the game."

The director also noted that when tackling the game in co-op mode on Realistic setting, the survival of the entire four-man group will rely on effective teamwork, strategy and patience. As the name of the setting suggests, it will bring a new level of realism to the game especially in terms of how players will carry out their operations.

"You all have to survive as a group," Blundell said. "You end up respecting the level in a completely different way, and once gunfire opens up, everyone just drops to the ground, because if any one bullet hits you or a grenade goes off near you, you're dead."

As for those who will be playing "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" with computer-controlled characters, Blundell noted that the studio has improved the game's artificial intelligence. Although he didn't go into detail regarding the enhancements, Blundell said the computer characters now have the ability to make decisions of their own.

"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" will come out on November 6 for the Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms.

As reported by Gamespot, the last-gen versions of the game will not come with a campaign mode. According to the studio, this was scrapped because the hardware of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 cannot handle the technical requirements of the campaign's co-op feature.
