Matt Damon is not itching to play a superhero character even after his good friend Ben Affleck took on the role of Batman in Zack Snyder's upcoming DC film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," since he is pretty contented playing tortured CIA assassin Jason Bourne in the "Bourne" franchise.

He even earlier joked during an interview with E! Online that he does not need to portray a superhero because Bourne is already one tough character who can easily defeat Batman if he chose to.

"Jason Bourne would kick the (expletive) out of Batman-absolutely! Batman's gotta take on Superman first. If he could beat him then maybe he could take on Jason Bourne," Damon jokingly said.

He made this statement after he was asked if he's keen on portraying any superheroes in the future, and he replied: "I think they're kind of out of superheroes. Ben's going to be like the sixth or seventh Batman, so I don't think there's really any left. So I'm good. Jason Bourne is my superhero."

Now, during an interview with The New York Daily Times, Damon praised Affleck for deciding to play Batman, adding that if he were to portray one himself, he would like the character to be Daredevil, which Affleck portrayed several years back.

In fact, Damon was originally offered the role, but it was Affleck who ended up co-starring in the "Daredevil" film together with his former wife Jennifer Garner.

"I think he approached it the right way, which is, 'Can I make a great superhero movie?' rather than, 'Do I want to play a superhero?' I'd consider it if the right thing came along," said Damon. "For us it was always Daredevil - that's the comic we read when we were kids. But when that one came along in 2003 I chickened out, because I couldn't tell. I hadn't seen the director Mark Steven Johnson's work and I didn't know. So I just said, 'No.' Ben was like, 'I gotta do it.' And the movie ended up doing very well, even though I don't think Ben was ultimately very proud of it."

Now, Damon said that he would jump at the chance to do a rebooted "Daredevil" film, and he even has a director in mind who would be perfect for the job.

"If Chris Nolan came up to me and said, 'I want to do Daredevil,' I would be in. Just putting that out there," he said.
