LG has started sending out invitations to various media outlets for a special event scheduled on October 1.

The upcoming event is expected to serve as the launch of the V10, a new smartphone model from the company that features two screens.

According to PC Mag, the event will be held in New York City and has been titled as The Premiere. Aside from the invites, the South Korean tech giant also uploaded a teaser video on YouTube that shows off a new smartphone mode. LG, however, did not mention the name of the device in the video but mentioned that it will be unveiled next month.

Various sources noted that this could actually be the V10, the smartphone model that has been recently popping up in rumors for some time now. According to notable and reliable leaker Evan Blass, also known by his Twitter followers as evleaks, the upcoming device will have a smaller secondary screen above the main display.

It is not yet clear how the additional screen will work but Techno Buffalo speculated that it might provide users with another way of interacting with the device. According to the site, the secondary screen could be used to display a set of icons for apps such as contacts, messaging and camera.

Tapping on an icon will then the designated app. Through this function, users will be able to launch various apps with unlocking the device or its main display.

As for the device's specs, the LG V10 is expected to sport 5.7-inch Quad HD main display. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 808 chipset from Qualcomm and will pack 3GB of RAM. The device will also have 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded using a microSD card.

The device is expected to feature a 16-megapixel main camera. There are no details yet regarding the specs of the V10's front shooter.

However, since LG has not yet officially discussed the details of the V10, it is not confirmed if this is the device that will be unveiled on October 1. Also, details about its specs and the function of the secondary screen are only based on rumors.

Hopefully, LG will release more information regarding the device and its scheduled event within the next few days.

Aside from the V10, LG is also working on another smartphone model. Dubbed as the Nexus 5X, the upcoming handset will mark the company's latest Nexus device for Google. It is expected to be introduced on September 29 along with another new Nexus smartphone from Huawei.
