The upcoming installment of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ will be simple and straightforward, newcomer Kaya Scodelario promises fans.

According to the ‘Maze Runner’ star, ‘Dead Men Tell No Tales’ will somehow return to the film franchise’s roots.

“It does have a lot more of the first movie, that’s what they wanted to bring it back to,” Scodelario said in an interview with Digital Spy. “[The producers] want to take it back to the beginning again. They wanted it to have this epic journey, and for it to make sense, and for it to tie things up, and also lead to new storylines.”

The actress also opened up about her character, Carina Synth, and the adventure that she takes in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5.’ As an astronomer and an academic, Carina fights for her right to continue her education at a university.

“…She’s on her own journey- looking for the trident of Poseidon- and she has a diary with clues and she encounters Jack Sparrow along the way, and he messes everything up. As he does. And it’s fun!”

Aside from franchise regular Johnny Depp (Jack Sparrow), Orlando Bloom is also set to return and reprise his role as Will Turner, as confirmed in the recently concluded D23 Expo.

For the upcoming film, Bloom reportedly said that he will take over the role of Davy Jones, and will not look like the Will Turner in the past movies anymore.

‘Dead Men Tell No Tales’ is expected to shed light on a 20-year time jump that will also feature Henry, Will’s son. Played by Brenton Thwaites, Henry will embark on a mission to look for his father and be reconnected with him.

Fans can also look forward to Geoffrey Rush, who plays Hector Barbossa, and newcomer Javier Bardem who will play the villainous role of Captain Salazar in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5.’

Bardem’s wife, actress Penelope Cruz, will not return to reprise her role as Angelica Teach.

The fifth ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ installment is directed by Espen Sandberg and Joachim Ronning.
Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, the film will also have Chad Oman, Joe Caracciolo, Jr. and Brigham Taylor as executive producers and Jeff Nathanson as screenwriter.

‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ is set for an official premiere on July 7, 2017.
