Crystal Palace F.C. won 2-1 against Chelsea F.C. at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, Aug. 29. Joel Ward and Bakary Sako from Crystal Palace each scored one goal. Radamel Falcao scored one for Chelsea. Craig Parson was the referee. There were 41,581 attendees at the stadium.

Chelsea was hosting the match and it was manager Jose Mourinho’s 100th game. In a post-game interview with Sky Report, Mourinho said that he was disappointed at the outcome, but he was not surprised.

“I don’t say shocked, I say disappointment. The week was a very good working week. The team did enough to have a different result and the game went against us in every detail. Palace are a good team with a good performance,” said Mourinho to Sky Sports on Saturday.

“The second point was we didn’t have 11 players performing at a normal level. And the referee made a big mistake for a penalty when it was 0-0. That penalty was in our best moment. Crystal Palace was always dangerous. They scored from a couple of counter attacks.”

Chelsea’s Lineup: Thibault Courtois, Cesar Azpilicueta, Kurt Zouma, Gary Cahill, Branislav Ivanovic, Nemanja Matic, Cesc Fabregas, Pedro, Willian, Eden Hazard, Diego Costa, and Radamel Falcao.

Crystal Palace’s Lineup: Alex McCarthy, Joel Ward, Scott Dann, Damien Delaney, Pape Square, James McArthur, Wilfried Zaha, Jason Puncheon, Bakary Sako, and Connor Wickham.

“For Palace, the result is confirmation of their quality in attack, as well as the strides the club has made since Pardew took over. But the big story is Chelsea's stuttering title defence, with just one win and four points from four matches and nine goals conceded,” stated Bleacher Report.
