“They are great friends and fully support one another. They are very aware that they are able to work on their own stuff as well as remain together. This is an exciting time for them creatively and as a group," said a source to E! News.

The news of One Direction’s break comes a few days after their release of a music video for ‘Drag Me Down.’ The single is the band’s first song release since former member Zayn Malik quit in March 2015.

E! News reported that the Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Tomlinson, and Horan envision a “future together,” but also the “freedom to do other things as well.” One Direction continues to headline tours across America. In recent news, Styles fell onstage again in Toronto, Canada at a sold-out concert.
