Following the launch of LG's modern flip-phone dubbed as the Wine Smart, Samsung also introduced a new handset that shares the same design.

Named as the G9198, Samsung's latest device is a flip-smartphone with a dual screen, The Next Web reported.

The South Korean tech firm recently launched the G9198 in China earlier this week. The device sports two 3.9-inch Super AMOLED displays. Both screens have a resolution of 720p.

Through this dual-screen design, users will be able to interact with their devices even without flipping it open. But for those who want to reminisce about using a flip phone, which gained popularity during the 90s and early 2000s, they can unfold the device to access its alphanumeric keypad.

Despite its rather outdated design, the G9198 sports high-end specs. It features a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/1.9 aperture. The front camera, on the other hand, is located on top of the inner screen and has a 5-megapixel sensor.

For its processor, Samsung equipped the G9198 with the 1.8GHz hexa-core Snapdragon 808 chipset. It also has the Adreno 418 as its graphics processing unit. The device packs 2GB of RAM and 16GB of native memory which can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.

Like Samsung's other devices that were unveiled in Asia, the G9198 features dual-SIM support.

The handset comes with a 2,020mAh battery pack and runs on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop as its stock operating system.

According to 9to5Google, there are no details yet regarding the retail price of the G9198. In addition, it is not yet clear if Samsung will market the device to other regions such as the U.S. and Europe or if it will only be available in China.

Its competitor LG, however, released the Wine Smart flip-phone in international markets.

But, as noted by Phone Arena, the G9198 might not debut in other markets just like its predecessor, the G9098.

Featuring the same flip design, the G9098 sports a smaller screen than the G9198 at 3.67 inches. It is powered by a quad-core processor and has 2GB of RAM.

The device came out in China last year and was never released in foreign markets since then. Based on this, it can be assumed that its direct successor will only be exclusively available in China.

But, since this is only based on speculations, the G9198 could still launch in the U.S. market depending on Samsung's decision.
