Aside from launching the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus during Unpacked 2015, Samsung also provided a few details regarding the Gear S2 smartwatch and the next version of the Gear VR headset.

According to the company, it will formally introduce the upcoming smartwatch in September while the virtual reality device will be unveiled soon.

Based on the company's teaser presentation for the Gear S2, it will be Samsung's first smartwatch with a round face design, Sam Mobile reported. Its previous wearable devices, such as the Galaxy Gear and its successor, the Gear 2, both came with square displays.

Samsung, however, did not go into detail regarding the features of the Gear S2 but it has been rumored that it will come with an updated Tizen operating system. In addition, the company confirmed that it will launch its newest smartwatch model next month during the IFA 2015 convention in Berlin.

Its other device, on the other hand, will be the direct successor of 2014's Gear VR headset. The first version was launched in September along with the company's handsets.

However, this year, the company decided to focus its presentation on the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus instead of introducing them with the new version Gear VR.

According to JK Shin, the head of Samsung's mobile division, the upcoming virtual reality headset will be formally unveiled soon. Although some may assume that it will be debuted in September during the company's IFA presentation, the executive said that its launch date will be a surprise.

Since the upcoming IFA event is an anticipated event, this may not serve as the launch stage for the headset based on Shin's hints.

CNET reported that the original Gear VR device was developed through Samsung's partnership with Oculus PR, which became a subsidiary of Facebook in March of last year. The headset was designed to work with Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 phablet.

A second version was then launched earlier this year for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge handsets. Following this trend, the new Gear VR headset could be marketed for the newly launched Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Galaxy Note 5, which are expected to come out on August 21.

Hopefully, more details regarding the Gear S2 and Gear VR headset will be revealed by Samsung within the next few weeks. But with September just around the corner, it seems tech fans will not have to wait for a long time to see Samsung's future devices.
