Development studio Mojang has just released a new DLC for the popular sandbox game "Minecraft."

The new content update will allow fans of the game to dress up their characters like Greek mythology gods and monsters.

The DLC can be purchased for $3.99 and is available for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One editions of the game. It comes with 39 new skins based on popular ancient Greek characters.

Some of these include Zeus, Helen of Troy, Achilles, Odysseus, Jason, Hades, Aphrodite, Poseidon, Apollo, Ares, Hera, Hermes, Medea, Prometheus, Minos, Medusa, Hephaestus, Theseus, Cyclops and Minotaur.

In addition, the update will also let gamers build new structures that will perfectly go well with the game's Greek mythology theme.

"Build a pantheon fit for the gods, trap the Minotaur in an elaborate maze, or set sail for adventures across the sea - the world is your square oyster," Mojang wrote in the Xbox News Wire.

Aside from these new features, the development studio also enlisted composer Gareth Coker to provide the original soundtrack for the new DLC. Gamers might remember Coker as the composer behind the platform-adventure indie game "Ori and the Blind Forest" which came out in March of this year.

The latest content update released by Mojang signifies that the popularity of "Minecraft" among generations of gamers has not yet decreased despite being officially released around four years ago.

In fact, according to Microsoft, Mojang's current owner, the game continues to sell millions of units for its consoles. Based on the company's earnings during the latest quarter of this year, the "Minecraft" editions for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 sold over 1.4 million units, Game Spot reported.

This led to a 10 percent or $86 million spike in revenues for Microsoft's Xbox platforms.

Also, as a testament to the game's success and popularity, it has been named as one of the best-selling games for the first half of 2015 by market research firm the NDP Group, according to Fortune.

"Minecraft" landed on the list's fifth spot, beating other big-hit titles such as "Batman: Arkham Knight," "Dying Light," "NBA 2K15," "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" and "Super Smash Bros."

Topping the company's list from the second to the fourth spots are "Grand Theft Auto V," "Battlefield: Hardline" and "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare."

"Mortal Kombat X" secured the top spot as this year's best-selling game.

But, since the list only refers to the first half of the year, some of these games might be replaced by other titles by the end of 2015.
