New reports suggest that Microsoft's upcoming Surface Pro 4 will be unveiled in October of this year.

In addition, the laptop-tablet hybrid device will be equipped with Samsung's Solid State Drive (SSD) technology.

Originally, Microsoft was targeting to introduce the Surface Pro 4 to the public on July 29, during the same date as the official release of its Windows 10 OS.

However, according to various sources, the company's decision to include 256GB of SSD storage in the device has derailed its projected launch date. Since manufacturer Samsung Electronics need time to mass produce the drives, Microsoft has opted for a later release date for the laplet devices.

Recently, as noted by Master Herald, Samsung's production is now underway which means Microsoft might be able to unveil the Surface Pro 4 sometime this year. Specifically, the site reported that the device might be introduced in October.

If this is true, then the Surface Pro 4 will be pitted directly against Apple's upcoming iPad Pro, which is also rumored to be unveiled during the same month.

As for its specs, previous leaks indicated that the upcoming device from Microsoft will come in 12-inch and 14-inch display variants. Despite the size difference, both versions will sport a 2160x1440 pixel screen resolution, according to Christian Today.

In addition, the upcoming device will be powered by Intel's new Skylake processor. This chipset, which will come in Core i3, i5 and i7 variants, will be able to provide a longer battery life, improved graphics quality and overall better background operations compared to the Surface Pro 3's Haswell chips.

The device is also expected to come in multiple storage variants such as 64GB, 128GB, 256GB and 500GB. Other rumors suggest that Microsoft is also planning on releasing a 1TB version of the Surface Pro 4, Tablet PC Review reported.

In terms of its other features, the Surface Pro will reportedly come with a bundled portable keyboard since the device will function as a tablet and laptop. It is also expected to come with a surface pen.

Based on reports, the pricing for the upcoming hybrid device from the Redmond-based tech giant will vary depending on its version. From the base model to the more expensive premium version, the price of the Surface Pro 4 may fall between $930 and $2,480.

However, despite the abundance of information regarding the device, these are still considered as rumors since there are no official announcements yet from Microsoft regarding the Surface Pro 4's specs, release date or pricing.
