The CEO of OnePlus has revealed new details regarding the price of the company's upcoming flagship smartphone.

Although executive Pete Lau did not mention the exact price of the OnePlus 2, he promised that it will cost less than $450.

Lau's statement seems to be in response to the speculations regarding the pricing range of the OnePlus 2. Ever since the company started hinting and confirming the actual specs of the device, various sources have been speculating about the price of the handset once it debuts in the market.

"Honestly, it's never been about the price," Lau stated in the OnePlus Google+ account. "We simply make the best smartphones we can, and we go from there. I can promise that the OnePlus 2 will be priced under 450 USD."

Since Lau or the company did not provide any other additional details regarding the device's pricing, it could easily fall somewhere between the OnePlus One's $300 price and $449.99, as noted by Android Authority.

With a price below $450, the OnePlus 2 is set to feature high-end specs including a USB Type-C charging port, a fingerprint scanner and an improved version of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor.

OnePlus previously explained that for the chipset, it ensured that Snapdragon 810 will not cause any overheating problems for the 2.

As for the rumored features of the upcoming flagship handset, various leaks suggest that the 2 might house a dual lens main camera paired with an 8-megapixel rear shooter. It might also feature an all-metal design and a 5.5 or 5.7-inch display.

The OnePlus 2 is scheduled to be officially unveiled by the company on July 27 through a special virtual reality presentation. For the event, the company has developed its own VR headset, dubbed as the OnePlus Cardboard.

Through the company's VR headsets, users will be treated to an interactive product launch featuring the 2.
