The '30 Days of Prayer for the Muslim World,' an annual prayer meeting that coincides with Ramadan, began this year on June 18. Ramadan takes place during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and during this period, Muslims fast during the day and focus on their spiritual lives. The 30 Days of Prayer for the Muslim World is a worldwide prayer movement that intercedes on behalf of these Muslims, that God would move in their lives. This year, the prayer movement is taking place from June 18 to July 17 for 30 days.

"The fact that there has been an increase in intercessory prayer for the Muslim world and a simultaneous movement of Muslims coming back to Jesus is not a coincidence," said YWAM's Korea office, who is hosting the 30 Days of Prayer for the Muslim World in Korea. "The Holy Spirit is leading countless Muslims to new life in Jesus Christ."

A free prayer booklet with prayer requests for each of the thirty days is available on www.30daysprayer.com, which also provides resources on Islam, including testimonies of Muslims receiving Christ, guidance on understanding the Qu'ran, and how to explain the trinity to Muslims.

Movement of Muslims Converting to Christianity

On the first day of the 30-day prayer movement, the organizers presented the first prayer topic with the title, "An unprecedented turning," and shared a brief history of the Muslims returning to Christ.

"We are seeing the greatest and most wide-reaching turning of Muslims to Christ in history," the organizers state.

"For nearly 14 centuries, Islam and Christianity have been engaged in a spiritual contest for the souls of millions," they continue. "For over 12 of those centuries, Islam has been the clear victor."

However, starting from 1870, movements of Muslims coming to Christ have occurred, the organizers stated. In 1967, two million Muslims in Indonesia were baptized in hundreds of Christian churches.

"In the first 14 years of the 21st century, new Muslim movements to Christ have erupted across the Muslim world, from West Africa to Indonesia, and everywhere in between," organizers expalined. "The 21st century alone has seen the addition of 69 new Muslim movements to Christ. In our day, we are seeing the greatest and most wide-reaching turning of Muslims to Christ in history."

Organizers encouraged beleivers to pray that "the Spirit of God will continue to sweep through the Muslim world, drawing Islam's millions to realize their need for salvation in Christ alone."

The 30 Days of Prayer for the Muslim World began in 1993, making this year the 23rd year of prayer. Organizations such as Voice of the Martyrs, Ministries to Muslims, Good Neighbor Insurance, and Christ for All Peoples are among the sponsors of the event.
