Various sources are reporting that the successor of the Apple Watch might sport a front-facing camera.

This additional feature can reportedly enable future owners of the Apple Watch 2 to take selfies and make FaceTime calls using the wearable device.

According to Mac Rumors, Apple developers are currently working on incorporating a small front camera into the top bezel of the next Apple Watch model. Naturally, this feature will allow users to snap pictures of their selves.

But based on Apple's revelation during the recent WWDC event, the addition of a camera could expand one of the Apple Watch's latest features. During the event, the Cupertino-based firm revealed that the WatchOS 2.0 update will allow users to answer FaceTime calls on their iPhones using their paired smartwatches. In addition, the update will also give Apple Watches audio support for FaceTime calls.

With the addition of a camera, Apple could further develop the WatchOS 2.0's features to accommodate FaceTime video calls through the Apple Watch, Phone Arena reported.

As for other rumors surrounding the next version of Apple's wearable device, South Korean news site MK News previously reported that the Apple Watch 2 could be unveiled sometime next year.

In addition, instead of opting for a different supplier as suggested by Apple's multi-vender policy, the tech firm has decided to stick with LG for a key component of the Apple Watch 2.

The news outlet said that the South Korean tech company will supply the same P-OLED screen panels for the upcoming wearable device. Apple has decided to stick with the same panel due to low battery consumption and better support for high-resolution features than conventional liquid crystal displays or LCD screens.

In addition, since P-OLED panels are made from plastic substrate, they are more flexible than glass. To make the panels scrath-resistant, Apple covers it with a layer of glass or sapphire, according to Techno Buffalo.

Despite the new information regarding the Apple Watch 2, Apple has not yet released an official statement regarding the device's exact specifications and projected release date.
