Samsung may have accidentally leaked the exact specifications of its upcoming Galaxy S6 Active smartphone through its official website.

Within hours after the details of the handset were revealed, Samsung removed the post from its website, according to Phone Arena.

The decision by the company to take down the post may have something to do with the device's status. As of now, Samsung has not yet officially unveiled the Active variant of its Galaxy S6 flagship device.

Fortunately though, various sources were able to obtain information about the Galaxy S6 Active before it was taken down by the South Korean tech firm.

Based on reports, the handset will pack a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with an HD resolution of 1440x2560 pixels. It will be powered by the octa-core 7420 processor and will have 3GB of RAM.

However, like the Galaxy S6, the Active model will have a slot for a microSD card. This means that its 32GB of internal storage cannot be expanded.

The Galaxy S6 Active will also share other features of its flagship counterpart such as the heart rate monitor, fingerprint scanner and the 16-megapixel and 5-megapixel cameras.

Previously, it was reported that the Galaxy S6 Active will carry a bigger battery with a rating of 3500mAh. But according to Samsung's post, it will only carry a 2550mAh battery, just like the regular Galaxy S6, Tech Radar reported.

Given the name of the upcoming handset, Samsung's next device will be marketed to those with an active lifestyle. This is why the company packed the smartphone with features that can take on the outdoor elements.

For instance, according to the device's manual, the Galaxy S6 is water and dust resistant. In fact, Samsung claims the handset can survive being submerged in 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes.

Also, the device will come with an Active Zone app which carries various features such as a compass, barometer, stopwatch and S Health info. The app can also provide information regarding the weather. This feature can be activated by pressing on the Active key located on the left side of the device.
