Development studio EA Digital Illusions CE (DICE) explained why the upcoming "Star Wars Battlefront" game for next-gen consoles is missing a key game play element.

Particularly, the studio addressed the gamers' concerns regarding the absence of space battles in the game.

After it was revealed that players will not be able to utilize space vessels for galactic dogfights in "Star Wars Battlefront," a lot of them were disappointed since this mode was heavily featured in 2005's "Star Wars: Battlefront 2."

Many gamers speculated that the reason why space battles will not be included in the game was because DICE didn't have time to develop it because the studio was rushing to release the game in time for the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" film.

But according to Patrick Bach, the general manager of DICE, space battles were omitted from the game in order to deliver a true land-based battlefront experience.

In addition, this decision will enable the studio to make the multiplayer game more focused.

"We want players to stay in the same [environment] - we don't want players tofly off and do something over *here*," he told the Official PlayStation Magazine according to Gamerant.

"It's about the 'Battlefront' experience, so we want to keep you in-atmosphere and fighting with the infantry," Bach added.

As somewhat of a trade-off, Gamesradar reported that "Star Wars Battlefront" players will not be restricted by a class or squad-based system. This means they are free to choose what type of weapons, gear or equipment they wish to use in the game based on their accumulated experience points.

In addition, instead of joining a team, players can pair up with a partner and share each others' unlocked items. In other words, players can also access weapons and other items of their partners even though they're on different levels or do not have the same experience points.

"Star Wars Battlefront" is scheduled to be released on November 17 of this year. It will be available for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
