Raheem Sterling played with Liverpool in a match against Hull City on Oct. 2014.

Soccer player Raheem Sterling rejected Liverpool Football Club’s (FC) new offers of £100,000 a week. Jamaican-born Sterling started playing for the London-based Premier League in 2010.

20-year-old Sterling is a winger, forward, and midfielder for the Reds. In other words, his position during matches is interchangeable by the coach since he plays defense, offense and shoots goals. He is a young, experienced player who has been to the Champions League and the World Cup.

“I just want to take the time to think about what I've achieved in my career so far, where I need to go and what I need to do to get better as a player," Sterling said in an interview with BBC news. "Next game is against Arsenal and I want to do my best. I won't be hiding. As I said, I'm just happy to be playing football."

Currently he receives £35,000 per week and his contract expires in 2017. He said that he will discuss his contract at the end of the season.

Sterling was born in Jamaica. He moved to London when he was five. Before joining Liverpool, he played for the Queens Park Rangers. He represented UK in the 2014 World Cup. That same year he received the Golden Boy award. His main sponsor is Nike, the American shoe retailer. In discussing his religion, Sterling said he is a Christian.

“Every match day I put faith in God. It's not part of a pre-match ritual or anything, but I pray at home the day and night before," he said to Daily Mail. "I pray most days, I try to anyway. It is one of those things where I need to get into the routine.“
