Since 2013, there were already rumors about the 12.9-inch giant tablet from Apple. Unfortunately, even after two years, there are no exact details whether the high-end slate would still make it to the market or not.

However, according to a new report by Christian Today, the release date of the iPad Pro may be coming soon. In the report, the company's current iPad models, which include the iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini 3, are now on sale with significant discounts.

Stores for major carriers such as AT&T and Verizon, and retailer giant Best Buy are reportedly offering several Apple products at a cheaper price.

In the report, Best Buy now sells the discontinued iPad Air for only $379.99 for the 16GB model, and consumers who want to get the 32GB edition will only need to add $50.

Aside from the iPad Airs, the iPad minis have reportedly been on sale as well, with prices dropping for all three generations of the mini Apple tablet. The iPad mini 3 Wi-Fi only model reportedly costs only $349.99.

With all these discounts, one may think that Apple may be preparing its 12.9-inch iPad Pro for the coming months.

First rumored in December 2013, the huge tablet rumor was so immensely popular at that time that a certain Korean manufacturer decided to jump the gun earlier with its own 12.2-inch Android tablet. Unfortunately, the results were not good according to a report last year.

That was because the gigantic Android slates had nothing unique to offer the enterprise market which it had in mind. In the report, notebooks were still more popular and powerful, and they are still more versatile to use than a 12-inch Android tablet.

However, a lot has changed since then, and the emergence of the Surface Pro 3 last year proved that the enterprise market can be interested in a tablet - as long as it is powerful enough, offers productivity applications, and can be easily 'converted' into a laptop.

Similarly, those were the same strengths of the iPad Air and iPad mini during their heyday, but consumers are now looking for bigger tablets and slates.

Now, that the new Apple Watch, MacBook 2015, MacBook Airs and Pros have been announced, the only remaining device in the rumor mill for Apple is the iPad Pro. And based on current market trends, the Cupertino manufacturer may just announce it later this year.
