With a wide range of Samsung devices expected to receive the latest Lollipop update, Samsung Norway has reportedly been experiencing difficulties in rolling out the update package for Galaxy S5 and S4.

Although the Android 5.0 Lollipop had already been seeding to these Galaxy smartphones, major issues forced the said Samsung branch to put the over-the-air (OTA) update on hold.

Such action had been deemed necessary after numerous Galaxy S5 and S4 owners reported their complaints to the local branch, pointing out the problems they have been encountering with the Android 5.0 update.

The reports included bug-related issues, such as unanticipated freezes of several applications like the Phone and Contact apps, often causing the device to be unusable. There have also been crashes that were reportedly affecting the alarm application.

In general, the OTA for the Android 5.0 Lollipop has been claimed to cause lagging in the Galaxy S5 and S4, resulting to slow performance of the devices. According to the local Samsung branch in Norway, the company has already learned about the issues and will be working towards solutions that can address the problem.

“We are aware of the issues some users are experiencing after installing the update Android 5.0 Lollipop and now has stopped the current version,” the local Samsung branch stated on Facebook. “We work full time with a new update that contains solutions to the problems that have been reported to us, including a new solution for silent mode.”

The branch has also promised to immediately send out updates as they fix the bugs and other errors for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

According to tech site GSM Arena, a possible underlying reason for the OTA issue is a mix-up of the Android 5.0 Lollipop software in shipping. A number of unknown potential bugs may have been concealed in the ROMS and, once the software update began seeding to devices, unexpected issues have come up.

Nonetheless, Samsung Norway has already acknowledged the fact that the Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA update has brought on issues to Galaxy S5 and S4 owners and will work towards quickly resolving the issue.
